Ergonomic Courses for Academic and Residency Programs

Studies in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Italy and China have shown that over 80% of sonographers experience some degree of pain related to their profession. Of these, 20% have been forced to give up the profession. As an educator, you have both the opportunity and the responsibility to provide your students or residents with the knowledge to reduce their risk for work related musculoskeletal injury before they enter the clinical field.

Education and training in proper body mechanics, postural alignment, and a program of preventative maintenance exercises are key elements in the successful prevention of occupational injury. Now there is an easily accessible program for ergonomic training for your students/residents.

Sound Ergonomics offers an ergonomic course for your program. This CD-ROM PowerPoint presentation includes instructor’s notes for lecture presentation, as well as a comprehensive video and student workbook. Courses are available for Sonography and Cardiovascular Programs, to be specified when ordering. A maintenance exercise program for those entering the field of sonography is also included.

Additionally, at the request of many faculty, we now offer the student packages designed to provide exercise equipment and individual workbooks for your students to allow them to be proactive in their approach to injury prevention.
